Today is Patriots’ Day, celebrated (in Massachusetts, Maine, and Wisconsin) to commemorate the First Battles of the American Revolution.
Since this is my first Patriots’ Day, I felt the need to wake before the crack-of-dawn to see and hear the symbolic first shots in the annual reenactment of the Battle of Lexington.
We rode our new bikes along the Minuteman Bikeway, arriving just in time to intercept the Red Coats near Woburn St at Mass Ave. Here are the British marching towards the Battle Green in Lexington Center:
After that, all I saw was the back of tourists, though I did hear a lot of faux musket shots. (You have to wake up really early in order to get a good view of the reenactment.)
